-Use optimised File I/O: This setting can be turned on from the Connection tab of the preferences. When turned on, file related operations, particularly file joining will be faster. This may not work well with some configurations though
Speed Download Troubleshooting
Here are some solutions to problems you may encounter while using Speed Download
-When downloading many files at the same time, downloads often stall.
If you are running OS 9.x or 8.x, increase Speed Download's memory allocation. As a general rule, if the number of connections (number of downloads * connections per download) is more than 60 or so, you should increase Speed Download's memory allocation. If you'll only be using around 20 connections, you can probably decrease the memory allocation by a megabyte or so.
-I get messages such as "Server doesn't support restarting", or "Server didn't specify filesize"
Speed Download uses parts of the ftp and http protocol which are optional, some servers do not implement them
-Downloads fail because of "Multiple errors".
This usually happens because the server is limiting the number of connections one client may have. Try decreasing the number of connections for that download
-There is an item in the queue that "doesn't work" : None of the queue buttons do anything to it
Check that you have not got an "Edit Download" window open for that item. When an item is being edited, it is "protected".
-When I try to launch Speed Download, I get an error message about CarbonLib
Carbon is an extension that is part of Apple's transition to OS X strategy. Version 1.2.5 of Carbon is supplied with Speed Download
